Key Words: Panchagnula Adinarayanasastry learnt Sanskrit grammar in Kashi and tarkam (Logic)in Nabadweep. He was a much acclaimed Sanskrit scholar. He made it his life's mission to make all the Sastras that are in Sanskrit available to ordinary mortals in Andhra by translating them into Telugu.
He was not satisfied with it. He was more fascinated about writing his own in Telugu. Although his appearance was that of a conservationist, he was the most modern of the modern Telugu literati. He stood by the bhavakavitvam and defended Naduri, the creator of that immortal heart-throb of Telugus, Enki.
He advocated the usage of spoken Telugu as the medium of instruction for school children. He had the courage to translate Kamasutra into Telugu and not only publish it on his own but also fight against the suit filed by the traditionalists against its sale single-handedly and did finally market it in Andhra. Such was his modernity and rational orientation.
Excellent article on the literary Giant Shri Panchagnula Adinarayansastry.
